About
Creator I’m Sarah, and I have been sewing since I was 10 years old. (That’s nearly 50 years, but don’t tell anyone!). To me, sewing is a calming and relaxing activity. I have always loved creating things that people use and enjoy. Working with beautiful textiles brings me such joy and such a sense of fulfilment.
Background In the autumn of 2025, I was given a bag of vintage textiles that had been at the back of my grandmother’s cupboard for decades. They were beautiful pieces and I felt the deserved to be seen and loved again. I explored various ideas for re-using these pieces and felt that shirts would be a fabulous way for them to be seen and enjoyed again.
Process I explored my pattern library and adapted the patterns I wanted to use to fit the tablecloths. Each beautiful, embroidered cloth might need different pattern placement or a slight change in size or shape to make the most of the embroidery. I take time to explore how to use the embroidery and avoid any of the damage of stains that, unfortunately, are often present on vintage items.
Bringing joy! I really enjoy selling in person as I can see the excitement people experience when they see the stunning needlework. I love the comments such as “Ooo, these are beautiful!” and then the enjoyment of feeling and exploring the textiles. At a recent vintage fair, one happy customer told me she was going to do her gardening in her new shirt! It was lovely to see the pleasure she felt from picturing herself in the garden in her special shirt.
Waste Sustainability is really important to me so, not only am I aiming to save textiles from landfill, but I also use the offcuts for smaller pieces, or mosaic-style shirts. Any really small offcuts are composted in my hot compost bin.
